Sneddon Law Community Wind Farm is currently under construction, with the construction work and turbine installation due to be completed in 2023.

Scottish company RJ McLeod were awarded the main contract to undertake civil engineering works for the 30MW scheme. Sneddon Law is the fourth wind farm which RJ McLeod have worked on for Community Windpower, as prior to this, then undertook construction and installation work of our 81.7MW Aikengall IIa Community Wind Farm in East Lothian, which was cmmissioned in December 2021.

Project Information

Sneddon Law Community Wind Farm was approved by East Ayrshire Council in October 2014. The wind farm will comprise of 15 wind turbines, each with a tip height of 130 metres.The wind farm will have an installed capacity of 30MW.

Site Location

Sneddon Law Community Wind Farm is located in East Ayrshire, 5 km north of Galston and 9 km east of Kilmarnock. Sneddon stands adjacent to the Whitelee Wind Farm and its Extensions.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

Sneddon Law Community Wind Farm will contribute to this target, generating enough electricity to power 29,600 homes, and displacing around 50,800 tonnes of carbon dioxide, per year. Once fully operational, Sneddon Law will be playing in a role in reducing our dependency on fossil fuels by generating clean, green, carbon-free energy.

Furthermore, over its operational lifetime of 25 years, Sneddon Law will provide a total of £1,875,000 in community benefits to create established legacies in the host communities surrounding it.
