Current Status
Millour Hill Extension Community Wind Farm became operational in March 2016.
Project Information
Millour Hill Extension Community Wind Farm was given planning consent by North Ayrshire Council in June 2014. Comprising of two turbines, the wind farm has an installed capacity of 6.4MW to generate clean, green electricity.
Site Location
Millour Hill Extension Community Wind Farm is located in North Ayrshire, 5km north west of Dalry and 6.5km west of Kilbirnie. The wind farm forms an extension of Community Windpower’s operational Millour Hill Community Wind Farm.
Wind Farm Layout
Millour Hill Extension Community Wind Farm comprises of two Siemens Direct Drive wind turbines. These wind turbines have a tip height of 125 metres and each has a generating capacity of 3.2MW.
Environmental Benefits
Millour Hill Extension Community Wind Farm generates enough electricity to power approximately 3,900 homes and displaces around 6,700 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide per annum.
Economic Benefits
Millour Hill Extension Community Wind Farm provides annual community funding equivalent to £5,000 per MW of installed capacity for the planning permission of the wind farm. Based on an installed capacity of 6.4MW, this equates to £30,000 per annum, totalling around £750,000 during the 25 year operational period, for the local host communities. Community benefit funding from Millour Hill Community Wind Farms is administered by the Dalry Parish Boundary Trust.
