Aikengall IIa
Current Status
Aikengall IIa Community Wind Farm was given planning consent by the Scottish Government in October 2016. Permission was granted in November 2019, to vary the tip height of a single turbine (T16), to match all others at 145m.
Project Information
Planning conditions for the wind farm have been formally discharged and construction work began in June 2020.
It’s estimated the wind farm will be operational in 2021.
Aikengall IIa Community Wind Farm will comprise of 19 Siemens wind turbines, all with a tip height of 145 metres and a generating capacity of 4.2MW.
The wind farm will have an installed capacity of 81.7MW generating clean, green electricity.
Site Location
Aikengall IIa Community Wind Farm is located on the border of East Lothian and Scottish Borders, approximately 12.5 km south of Dunbar and 6 km south of Innerwick. The wind farm will form an extension of Community Windpower’s operational Aikengall and Aikengall II Community Wind Farms.
Environmental Benefits
Aikengall IIa Community Wind Farm will generate enough electricity to power approximately 70,000 homes and will displace around 121,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum.
Economic Benefits
