NIC Advises Government to Support Renewables Over Nuclear – 11th July 2018

The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) has advised the government to reduce their support of nuclear power in the future; as renewable energy sources could provide a more reliable option.
Sir John Armitt, the chairman of the NIC, has advised that the government don’t rush ahead with new nuclear plans until we have more certainty over the capacity of renewables. He also maintained that wind and solar power could provide the same generation as nuclear for the same price, and would be the more advantageous choice due to the reduced risks involved.
