Hill race prizes at Oldhamstocks Flower Show

Every year at Oldhamstocks Flower Show in East Lothian, a 6.5km running race is held in a circular route from Oldhamstocks church and back. It involves 200m of elevation climb, with one steep section ascending into the Lammermuir Hills. The race has been a mainstay of the day’s events, and this year the organisation responsibility is with Dunbar Running Club.

The race is open to all over the age of 15; 15 to 18 year-olds run as ‘Juniors’, and those over 40 run as ‘Veterans’, with a neutral category for the ages in between. The first-placed man and woman within each category received a prize on the day, with the prizes funded by Community Windpower.

Anouska Woods, Community Coordinator at BeGreen Dunbar, said: “We were delighted to facilitate these prizes at what is such a popular yearly Flower Show in Oldhamstocks. Seeing the community band together to support all the runners is an amazing sight, and both BeGreen Dunbar and Community Windpower are always happy to support events or causes which foster teamwork and individual wellbeing. Congratulations to all the runners, organisers, and societies involved.”
