Help influence positive change and win a 2000 E-bike

E-Bike Comp

Community Windpower Ltd (CWL), the developer of the proposed Scoop Hill Wind Farm, want to support both Moffat and the wider area by developing a new community asset.

CWL are asking the community at large to come up with suggestions which will offer Moffat an asset for resident’s long-term use and enjoyment. All ideas are welcome; but our suggestions are: A tourism-based attraction; a leisure-focused attraction; or an educational facility.

To encourage the community to provide their ideas, CWL are giving away a state-of-the-art electric Volt mountain bike worth over £1900 and £100 towards cycling safety equipment. The E-bike was chosen with the assistance of Gordon Burgess, the owner of Annandale Cycles based in Moffat.

The community asset will be delivered as part of the Scoop Hill Wind Farm project, however it will be subject to its own planning application to be determined by Dumfries and Galloway Council, following a formal consultation period and thorough engagement.

Local residents are being invited to submit their ideas, thoughts and suggestions on what type of facility or community asset will be most beneficial to the local area. This is your opportunity to help facilitate positive change.

Consultation started on 20/05/2021 and the closing date for responses is 18/06/2021. CWL will then review all the entries and will announce the winner shortly after.

Steve Milburn, senior project manager, at Community Windpower said “We are delighted to be engaging with the residents of Moffat and the wider area about a potential new community asset.

“This provides an excellent opportunity for the community to influence a positive and in doing so they have the chance of winning a new electric mountain bike. Thank you to Gordon Burgess at Annandale Cycle for helping select our prize.

“We welcome all ideas and wish everybody good luck with our prize draw in June.”
