Friends of the Earth provided with significant donation

Community Windpower has once again provided a significant donation to Friends of the Earth, during The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2020.

The Big Give is the UK’s number one match funding platform and runs the annual Christmas Challenge to help raise millions of pounds for good causes.

Community Windpower has pledged £10,000, which will be doubled to £20,000, to support Friends of the Earth’s Climate Ambition campaign, which is targeting to raise £120,000 this year.

The campaign supports 200+ Climate Action groups across the country with training and resources so they can campaign for their local councils to adopt an ambitious 50-point Climate Action Plan.

These plans give councils practical actions they can take to reduce emissions and make their areas greener and more sustainable, including supporting the provision of green energy projects including onshore wind, battery storage and green hydrogen.

Rod Wood, managing director of Community Windpower, said: “We’re very proud to support the amazing work Friends of the Earth does in pushing for a greener environment and communities.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2020 means our £10,000 donation will go much further and help provide a platform for Friends of the Earth’s Climate Action groups to carry out their local activity.

“It will also help vital work to combat runaway climate change and push for a green and fair recovery from the Covid-19 crisis, including the delivery of more onshore wind, battery storage and green hydrogen projects.

“Community Windpower will continue to work alongside Friends of the Earth to tackle air pollution effectively, and to protect our environment, our own health and the health of future generations.”

The Big Give Challenge 2020 runs until 12pm Tuesday 8th December.
