Essential goalkeeping kit bought for Dunbar Junior Hockey Club
Dunbar Junior Hockey Club’s Juniors have purchased 2 sets of new goalkeeping pads and helmets to use at Hallhill, thanks to wind farm funding.
The hockey club has grown rapidly in numbers over recent months, but did not possess its own goalkeeping equipment, essential for the safety of the children who play in net.
The cost of the new goalkeeper kit has been met by community benefit funding from Community Windpower’s Aikengall Community Wind Farms, the funds of which are managed and administered by Dunbar Community Council.
The grant has enabled the club to move swiftly into the current season, ensuring that the goalkeepers remain safe and that all members can once again fully engage with physical activity after the hard months of isolation.
Earlier in 2021, the fund also provided new hockey goals for the club to use at the Hallhill hockey facilities. The three well equipped pitches have been facilitating the return of junior hockey as COVID-19 restrictions have eased.
Dunbar Community Council’s Treasurer, Alasdair Swan, is keen that community groups across Dunbar should be aware of the generosity of Community Windpower, which offers financial support both through the Community Council and through the BeGreen Dunbar shop on the High Street.
He said “Once again we are delighted to have the support of Community Windpower’s funding from the Aikengall Community Wind Farms, we know that Dunbar Junior Hockey Club are truly grateful”.
Diane Wood, Community Benefits Director at Community Windpower said: “It is fantastic to be able to support Dunbar Junior Hockey Club again and we hope the kit provided can lead to a successful season for the juniors.
“We look forward to working further with Dunbar Community Council to provide funding to other organisations and voluntary groups”.
