Energy efficiency boost for West Barns Village Hall

A huge £12,455 grant was provided by CWL, through BeGreen Dunbar, to fund the installation of solar panels on the newly renovated West Barns Village Hall, which sits on the outskirts of Dunbar.
The hall is used for fitness and gymnastics classes, bingo, Rainbows and Brownies meetings, and surgeries for Local Councillers. Mark James of West Barns Village Hall approached BeGreen Dunbar, which distributes CWL's Aikengall community benefits, as he wanted to boost the energy efficiency of the building, helping to bring down bills and keep hiring costs low for members of the community that utilise the hall.
Recently, the solar panels were installed successfully by a reliable local contractor!
Mark James said, "We aim to make the hall available to the community for reasonable rates and the solar installation will enable us to keep our hall rents at a lower rate. We have been delighted to have been given assistance from Community Windpower & BeGreen Dunbar who have given the Village Hall 100% funding towards the project."
Eldon Woods, BeGreen Energy Assessor also added, “It’s been great to be involved in this application from beginning to end. I popped down to watch the works take place and it’s fantastic to know the big difference this will make. We are delighted to facilitate this grant, as promoting the use of green energy is incredibly important to us. We are keen to keep up with the progress of these installations, well done to all involved!”
