End of term trip for Gateside Primary pupils

Class Gateside

Whilst this school year is drawing to a close, P1-P5 pupils at Gateside Primary School headed off to Heads of Ayr Farm Park in Alloway. With help from Community Windpower’s community benefit fund, a large bus was hired to transport teachers, pupils and their families for a fun day out.

Heads of Ayr Farm Park includes many activities, including adventure barns, play areas and also animal zones where park visitors can meet small and large animals. There are both traditional farmyard animals for the children to see, or more exotic species such as lemurs, meerkats, monkeys, and a camel named Ralph.

Trips such as this are very important for children’s development, as they combine fun and learning in an outdoor environment. The children at Gateside Primary, amongst other schools, have been inspired this term by BeGreen Dalry’s Educational Ranger Pete Boustead, who gives educational talks and encourages the children to explore nature.
