CWL support St. Bridget's trip to Vikingar - 11th September 2019

Pupils in P4/3 and P4 from St. Bridget’s Primary in Kilbirnie paid a visit to Vikingar, a historical and action-packed Viking experience. The children and teachers got to see a Viking Longhouse and got guided through 500 years of history by costumed story tellers.
Community Windpower Ltd (CWL) are thrilled to be able to assist in providing this experience for the pupils at St. Bridget’s Primary. By using community benefits generated by our Dalry Community Wind Farm, CWL were able to provide transport costs to take pupils to and from Largs in Ayrshire. CWL are committed to investing in the education of young people within our wind farm’s host communities and look forward to supporting projects like this in the future.
A teacher representing the school told us “We arrived at Vikingar and had a tour of their Viking longhouse. We couldn't believe that they would all have slept in one room! After we had finished our tour we went over to the Viking village. There we found out about the food that the Vikings would have eaten and the weapons that they might have carried. We discovered that some people from Kilbirnie might have fought against the Vikings at the battle of Largs in 1263. Our visit was a great introduction to our topic and really made us want to find out more. Thank you to Community Windpower for helping us out with some of the cost.”
