CWL proud to continue partnership with Ayrshire College - 19th April

AyrshireCollege

CWL are delighted to have provided a two week work placement for students from Ayrshire College studying the City and Guilds Wind Turbine Technician Course.

The two week work placement took place at our head office in Frodsham, spending half of their time working with the Operations/Technical team, and the other half with the Projects team.

During the time with the Operations/Technical team, the students were offered an insight into how SCADA data works, and is used to produce operational reports and is later used for analysis. With the Projects team the students were taken through the site selection process and taught about the various constraints which are considered by developers.

During the work placement, the students were shown around our operational wind farm sites at Dalry Community Wind Farm and Millour Hill Community Wind Farm, and were also shown the progress on our Sanquhar Community Wind Farm which is currently under construction.

Student Jethro Urquhart said of the scheme “Got a fantastic knowledge of the amount of time, effort and information regarding the planning involved from the application, to the construction and finally the running of a wind farm. Everyone involved was only too happy to help and share knowledge”.

We wish the students all the best for the future and hope that their time spent with CWL provided them some useful experience of how sites are developed, constructed and operated which should aid their future career decisions. CWL look forward to continuing the student placement schemes with Ayrshire College in the near future.
