CWL holds a successful fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Research - 1st October 2018

CWL took part in the Macmillan Coffee morning raising £100 of much needed funds for Cancer Research. This is the biggest fundraising event of the year for Macmillan who last year raised £27 million alone for their Coffee morning.

CWL employees had been encouraged to bake and donate cakes to sell on Friday 28th September and they didn’t disappoint. Everyone enjoyed various different cakes ranging from gluten free to triple chocolate sponges with lots of donations being made throughout the morning and the rest of the day.

Macmillan Cancer Research has been there for those in need for more than 100 years and still helps to support each individual directly from the initial cancer diagnosis and they are there whenever they are needed throughout what could otherwise be a very difficult and scary journey. The nurses can help to provide much needed support and advise to each individual in need.

Charity events are very important within the CWL year and as such complete a Company Challenge every year for a different selected charity and this year Brain Tumour Research was chosen. Less than 1% of national spend from cancer research is allocated to funding research and support for suffers of this terrible disease, which has sadly affected both family and friends of company members. Therefore, in May 2018 all employees took part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge walking a gruelling 24.5 miles up (and down) Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. We raised a total of £22,103.95 (£24,008.56 - including gift aid) via our Just Giving Page which was a fantastic amount for such a worthy cause.

Watch this space for further charity events taking place throughout the year.
