Dumfries School

Community Windpower Ltd (CWL) were pleased to visit Dumfries High School to give advice to S2 and S3 students about careers, wind farms and the renewable energy industry.

CWL were one of over 50 local businesses and employers that took part in Dumfries High School’s very first S2 and S3 Careers Fair on Wednesday 13th February 2019. Over 300 pupils were able to engage with staff from a variety of organisations and services, to ask questions and enquire further about the necessary requirements and best subject to study when considering future careers.

Members of CWL’s Project Development Team and Technical Team attended the event. The CWL stall was busy throughout the day with many students asking interesting and engaging questions.

Phil Cubbon, Headteacher at Dumfries High School, commented:

"This was a hugely successful Careers Fair, the first of its kind at DHS. We are incredibly grateful to the vast array of businesses and organisations who supported our event and we are already looking forward to making next years event bigger and better"

S2 and S3 students at Dumfries High School were particularly interested in careers in the renewable energy industry, CWL and, renewable energy projects such as onshore wind farms. They were fully aware that the onshore wind industry is one of the biggest employers in their local area of Dumfries and wanted their options to better reflect this trend.

CWL were proud to attend this event and meet the wonderful and inspiring students at Dumfries High School. CWL are also exceptionally proud to support growth in Scotland through employment, investment and education.

CWL hope to continue building on the successful and effective relationship with Dumfries High School in more events like this.
