CWL 2019 54 km Canoe Challenge - 9th May
For the 2019 Community Windpower Ltd (CWL) Challenge, CWL staff embarked on a 54km canoe from Llangollen to Wrenbury, with a target completion time of 12 hours! It was raining, it was cold, but the CWL staff were 100% committed to complete the challenge.
On the 9th of May at 7:30am, staff, family and friends of CWL launched from the starting point at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Llangollen. This is the longest aqueduct in Great Britain and the highest canal aqueduct in the world at 307m in length and 126 ft (38 m) in height!
The route included several locks where the team had to get out and carry the canoes, after hours of canoeing this was a challenge in itself!
This year, CWL have chosen Multiple Sclerosis Society (MSS) and CALM (Campaign against living miserably) to raise money for. MSS help to provide the much needed support for the 107,000 people and families across the UK who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis. MSS help support the biggest researchers, trying to find cures and a greater understanding of MS.
CALM is the leading movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. CALM offer frontline services to those who need it, with a free confidential helpline available 7 hours a day, 7 days a week.
CWL are aiming to raise £25,000 for these incredible charities and there is still time to donate which would be gratefully received. To do so, please click here to donate via the Virgin Money Giving page below.
