Community Windpower's Summer Challenge raises over £12,000 for charity - 15th August

In June, CWL staff successfully completed a 30 mile canoeing challenge along the River Severn, raising money in aid of Tarporley Hospital. Staff kayaked and canoed from Welshpool to Shrewsbury over two days and a total of £12,882 has been raised to date, in aid of a very worthwhile cause.
Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, established in 1919, provides care to those living in Tarporley and surrounding villages. The hospital specialises in the rehabilitation of the elderly, intermediate care and supporting terminally ill and palliative patients as well as providing day and respite care and dealing with minor injuries.
CWL recently visited Tarporley Hospital to present the cheque for over £12,000, discover more of the work that takes place at the hospital and discuss plans for the money raised.
The hospital only receives approximately 30% of funding from the NHS, with 70% needing to be raised each year - an increasingly difficult task.
The team at Tarporley Hospital were incredibly grateful for CWL's efforts and will ensure the money is well used. The current plan is for the money to go towards refurbishing some of the rooms at the hospital.
