Community Windpower Summer Challenge 2016 - 18th May 2016

The Community Windpower team are looking forward to this year’s summer fundraising challenge which involves canoeing a 35 mile stretch of the River Severn over two days, in order to raise money for Tarporley War Memorial Hospital.

Yesterday, wearing their infamous curly green wigs, Community Windpower staff took to the water of the River Dee in Chester for a magnificent first practice session. Thanks to Mark at Chester Kayak Hire, team members tested out canoes and kayaks to get a feel for their preferred vessels, paddling and steering. Everyone had a great time and all are looking forward to the summer challenge taking place on 23rd & 24th June.

Tarporley War Memorial Hospital is a local charity close to the hearts of Community Windpower. The ‘in patient’ unit at Tarporley specialises in the rehabilitation of the elderly, intermediate care and supporting terminally ill and palliative patients.  They also have a day care facility, offer Respite Care, deal with mini minor injuries and a range of ‘out-patient’ activities.  Community Windpower have a fundraising target of £10,000 which will help the Hospital to continue to provide a most valuable service to the local community.
