Community Windpower show support for Autism on the Water with £1,000 corporate donation
Heavily influenced by his own experiences with autism and learning to sail, founder Murray MacDonald uses sailing to help others on the autistic spectrum develop their confidence, problem-solving and social skills. As part of this effort, he founded AOTW in 2016, a registered charitable foundation dedicated to raising awareness for autism through sailing and boating.
So far, the charity has made sailing accessible to over 200 autistic adults and children and as demand continues to increase, they’ve recently purchased a new yacht and have also opened a South-Coast branch in partnership with Scaramouche Sailing Trust. Here, free sailing outings are provided to young people on the autistic spectrum, as well as their sponsors, supporters and special guests.
CWL is delighted to announce that, for a third year in a row, we will be partnering with AOTW and will be providing the organisation with a £1,000 corporate donation.
Diane Wood, Community Benefits Director at CWL, said: “We are happy to, once again, be providing sponsorship for AOTW. They are an incredible organisation, and we hope that our funding can assist Murray and his amazing team with achieving all they have planned for 2023.”
Murray MacDonald, Autism on the Water’s founder, said: “We are absolutely over the moon that Community Windpower have continued to support AOTW for the third year in a row – their support, like with all our sponsors, enables our charity to continue providing people with autism completely FREE sailing and boating activities on the water.”
