Community Windpower provides 1,500 to RNLI for annual fete costs

The RNLI has been established for 199 years, and next year they will be celebrating their bicentenary. With 46 lifeboat stations dotted around Scotland’s coastline, hundreds of communities are kept safe and covered by the RNLI’s ability to provide 24-hour search and rescue services.

This, however, requires a significant amount of funding per year. Aside from relying on charitable donations from the public, and small-scale fundraising on the RNLI’s behalf, they also hold yearly events such as the Dunbar Lifeboat Fete which serves as their main fundraiser of the year.

Dunbar Lifeboat Station, based in Victoria Harbour, are proud to be holding their 2023 Lifeboat Fete on the 15th July, and CWL are proud to provide a grant of £1,500 towards the cost of hiring some essential equipment for this event. There will be a parade along Dunbar High Street, the crowning of the Lifeboat Queen, songs and entertainment, children’s amusements, and the chance to meet the amazing lifeboat volunteers and view their all-weather and inshore lifeboats up close.

Diane Wood, Community Benefits Director at Community Windpower, said: “We are thrilled to provide funding for this event. The RNLI are such a precious resource, and us at CWL and BeGreen are proud to support them. We hope everyone who attends this event has an amazing time!”
