Community Windpower Helping Struggling North Ayrshire Families This Christmas.
Over 200 Struggling families will be helped this Christmas through festive food parcels prepared and donated by Community Windpower Ltd and BeGreen Dalry.
These festive food parcels are in addition to the emergency food packs provided by the North Ayrshire Foodbank for families and individuals who are in difficult situations and have been referred by local authorities or agencies.
Over £17,000 was donated by Community Windpower Ltd (CWL) and BeGreen Dalry to locally purchase the items for the festive food parcels. Teams from Community Windpower and BeGreen were supported by local volunteers in preparing and packing the food parcels for distribution, at the Church of the Nazarene in Ardrossan.
This year’s donation is the greatest ever, increasing the number of festive food parcels available for families facing difficult times this festive season. This year’s food parcels include fresh items, featuring Turkey Crowns, Gammon Joints, festive fruit and seasonal vegetables together with some festive treats and biscuits.
Community Windpower are proud to have partnered with local butcher R Stalker & Son of Dalry to provide the fresh meat parcels; ensuring local businesses benefit as well.
“Community Windpower are delighted to be able to support families via North Ayrshire Foodbank especially at this festive time of year. I would like to thank all the volunteers that have made this endeavour possible, and we will continue to support the Agencies and groups involved through our BeGreen shop” - Diane Wood, Community Benefits Director.
The festive food parcels are now being distributed throughout North Ayrshire via the various support networks and agencies. It is hoped that these parcels of ‘Christmas Cheer’ allow some of the hardest hit families in North Ayrshire to enjoy Christmas just a little bit more.
Funding for this year’s food packs comes from CWL’s Dalry Wind Farms. As of October this year, total community donations from these Windfarms are now over £1.5 Million. CWL are committed to funding community based projects like this, across North Ayrshire and look forward to future success stories like this.
