Christmas Hamper Packing with North Ayrshire Foodbank!

In a time of economic difficulty and a cost-of-living crisis, some families in Scotland have to choose between heating their homes or purchasing food. In collaboration with the hardworking people at North Ayrshire Foodbank, Community Windpower funded 250 Christmas hampers for families in need this year, also sending three helpers to pack the bags and sort them for distribution. These hampers have been a mainstay event on the Community Windpower calendar for almost a decade!

The Christmas hampers contained items for a Christmas dinner, such as carrots, Brussels sprouts and gravy granules, alongside fruits, non-alcoholic drinks, crisps, lentils, and many chocolate treats. Also distributed with the hampers were packages of meat from R Stalker & Son butchers in Dalry. The hamper packing took place on the 21st December 2022, with Community Windpower staff present to help, alongside our BeGreen Dalry Educational Ranger Pete Boustead. In Dalry Scout Hall, where the packing took place, it was a scene of activity and hard work as other packers arrived to help, getting stuck in by filling up the shopping bags of food and sorting through the goodies.

Community Windpower would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the packing! These hampers will be distributed to those who really need them this Christmas, and a few hours work from these generous people will mean that 250 hampers can make an enormous difference. We wish everyone in our host communities across West Scotland a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
