Community Funding

Community Windpower is wholly committed to fulfilling community obligations once planning permission has been obtained. We work closely with our local host communities to provide significant economic, educational, environmental and social benefits for the lifetime of the wind farm.

Community Benefits we provide:

  • Community Windpower has provided funding towards key long-term, legacy projects across Scotland providing our local host communities with hubs and centres of social activity. We have provided funding towards the creation of a community shop, village halls, scout hall, and a girl guiding activity centre.
  • Educational presentations and interactive workshops for primary and secondary schools on sustainability, energy awareness and renewable energy;
  • Creation of jobs for local people - we currently employ an Educational Ranger, Energy Advisors and an Energy Assessor;
  • The Educational Ranger works with local schools, and delivers lessons focused on environmental topics;
  • Funding and operation of our BeGreen Energy Advice Service including grant funding for energy efficiency measures and renewable energy installations (visit www.begreencentres.co.uk for more information);
