Current Status
The planning application for Aikengall II - Wester Dod Community Windfarm was submitted to the Energy Consents Unit of the Scottish Government on 4th September 2009, for determination.
It is envisaged that a decision will be made by the Scottish Ministers in Spring 2010.
Where is the proposed site?
This proposal will form a South-east extension to the existing Aikengall Community Windfarm, which has been operational since March 2009, located approximately 11km Southeast of Dunbar and 6km South of Innerwick.

Aikengall II - Wester Dod Community Windfarm comprises of 30 wind turbines, associated access tracks, crane hard standings, borrow pits, temporary construction compounds, two meteorological masts, an on-site control room and electrical substation and compound.

Environmental Benefits
The proposed wind turbines would be capable of generating up to 108MW of clean, green, locally sourced electricity and would significantly contribute towards the Scottish Government's renewable energy targets of 50% by 2020, with an interim target of 31% by 2011.
Community Benefits
As part of the Aikengall II - Wester Dod Community Windfarm, in total, at least £100,000 will be provided per annum to fund Community Benefits, with some specific benefits allocated extra funding to ensure their implementation and success. it is anticipated that the £100,000 would be split between the communities of Abbey St. Bathans, Bonkyl, Preston, Cranshaws, Ellemford, Longformacus, Cockburnspath and East Lammermuir Community Council area.
