Current Status
Millour Hill Community Windfarm was granted planning permission on Tuesday 15th December by North Ayrshire Council. Press release available here.
Enabling works have commenced at our latest Windfarm Millour Hill Community Windfarm. These enabling works included site investigation and survey works to ensure optimum design of the track layout and construction methods to be used.

Where is the proposed site?
The site lies approximately 5km north west of the town of Dalry, 6.5km west of the town of Kilbirnie and 6.5km north east of the town of West Kilbride and is within the southern boundary of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park.

Windfarm Layout
Millour Hill Community Windfarm comprises of 6 wind turbines and will generate up to 18MW of clean, green electricity. It will run alongside the original Dalry Community Windfarm and will be of a similar size of those already constructed with a maximum tip height of 125m.

Environmental Benefits
Millour Hill Community Windfarm would generate enough electricity to power 13,000 homes in the local area, mainly Dalry, Kilbirnie and Beith.
Millour Hill Community Windfarm, which has a typical lifetime of 25 years, will altogether save approximately 1.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide during this time; almost 51530 tonnes EVERY year. The proposed windfarm will also save approximately 599 tonnes of sulphur dioxide and 180 tonnes of nitrogen oxide each year.
Community Benefits
As part of the Millour Hill Community Windfarm there are a number of community benefits for the local people, which include:

Additional funding for BeGreen Dalry - the Dalry Carbon Neutral Project which aims to help local people improve their energy efficiency, reduce carbon footprints, assist with grant applications for insulation and alternative energy systems;

Providing funding for an investigation into fuel poverty in the area;

3 years funding for home energy audits targeting those families most likely to be living in fuel poverty;

Educational presentations on climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency;

Funding for educational school trips to local attractions and visits to the windfarm;

Donations to community events and community groups.
