About the Turbines
The 16 turbines now constructed at Aikengall Community Windfarm are Vestas 3MW machines. These turbines have a tip height of 125 metres and a rating of 3MW. In total the 16 turbines have an installed capacity of 48MW.
How will Aikengall Community Windfarm help to tackle Climate Change?
Aikengall Community Windfarm will now generate power for around 35,000 homes and will displace approximately 145,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum. The electricity generated through this scheme will be fed into the local grid through the Dunbar Sub-Station and directed for local consumption.
How will Aikengall Community Windfarm benefit the local Community?
Aikengall Community Windfarm will help to fund the Dunbar Carbon Neutral Project and BeGreen Dunbar & District. Donation of a wind mast to Innerwick Primary School. Funding for the enhancement of a East Lammermuir Deans Reserve.
