The amount of carbon removed is equivalent to what is produced by all Scotland’s cars, buses, trains and lorries from our roads and railways.

Scotland’s renewable energy has seen a 120% increase in displacing carbon emissions over the past 5 years. The most recent data has show that renewable energy projects including wind farms have prevented over 1 million tonnes of CO2 per month in 2014 equating to 12.3 million tonnes in total. This figure is more than the CO2 released from every car, bus and train journey taken over the year.

The figure is equivalent to 23% of Scotland’s total carbon emissions bringing with it environment, economic and social benefits.
