New study finds a rethink is needed over Scottish carbon targets - 24th August

A fifth of spending on new buildings and transport needs to be shifted towards backing carbon reduction targets finds a new study.  The report, published by the Task Force on Low Carbon Infrastructure claims less money should be spent on projects that increase energy use.  In response, the Scottish Government stated the report was a 'valuable contribution' to shifting towards a low-carbon economy.  

The report explains that it is better to build infrastructure for changed public choices and behaviour, travel patterns and energy efficiency standards rather than alter infrastructure when these changes have taken place.  The 'Scotland's Way Ahead' report also pushes for further progress on renewable electricity, transport, housing and waste.
