Lord Stern reacts to claims about the cost of climate cuts - 26th August


Eminent climate economist Nicholas Stern has said there is no conflict between economic growth and action on climate change.  Stern, addressing ambassadors in Paris, explained that creating a race between economic development and climate action could do significant damage to the prospects of an agreement in Paris later this year. 

Several business groups have complained about the costs of climate mitigation.  Stern, however, said there was now 'much greater understanding of how economic growth and climate responsibility can come together and, indeed, how their complementarity can help drive both forward'.
