Japan seeks renewable energy advice from Scotland 8th July 2015

Japan Visit

Japan is looking to Scotland to help it harness renewable energy opportunities in the wake of the destruction wrought by the country’s devastating tsunami in 2011. This week the Consul General of Japan will be visiting the Western Isles to research smaller-scale renewable energy projects, with a focus on wind and wave energy.

Mr. Kitaoka explained: “I believe this visit could be one of the most significant I have undertaken...and I am very much looking forward to visiting sites relating to renewable energy, which is now of the utmost importance for the future of Japan since the nuclear disaster caused by the tsunami in 2011.”

Japan is also looking to develop hydro-power and geothermal power in a bid to help power the resources-poor country.
