Family Open Day at Dalry and Millour Hill Community Wind Farms a huge success - 15th August

Open Day

A great day was had by all who attended Community Windpower’s Family Open Day at Dalry and Millour Hill Community Wind Farms near Dalry, North Ayrshire on Saturday 10th September.

Over 1,000 people attended the Open Day, on what turned out to be a glorious day weather-wise.  The fun-filled day had plenty of things to do for visitors of all ages and everyone had an opportunity to explore the wind farm.

Activities on the day included archery, an outdoor climbing wall, children’s rides and carousels, circus skills, tractor and trailer rides around the wind farm, guided tours and the chance to take a look inside a wind turbine.  The event was also accompanied by an enjoyable roadshow from West FM, keeping the crowds entertained throughout the day.

Local school pupil Alan Harkins was presented with his prize by Educational Ranger Pete Boustead as his creative artwork was chosen to promote the event and used on all the posters, leaflets and adverts.

There was also a variety of stands and stalls on offer both inside and outside of the marquee with local crafts and produce as well as local charities including the 55th Ayrshire (Dalry) Scout Group, Girl Guiding Ayrshire North, North Ayrshire Food Bank and Dalry Action Group.  Visitors were also able to enjoy ice cream from the Lime Tree Larder on this sunny September day.  The marquee also provided visitors with an opportunity to learn more about Dalry and Millour Hill Wind Farms, BeGreen Dalry and our work in the community.

As always, the complimentary BBQ and drinks on offer saw plenty of people throughout the day with a sizeable queue to match.

Community Windpower are delighted that the day was such a success with a high turnout of visitors, a huge variety of stalls and activities on offer and of course, the fantastic weather.  We would like to thank all those who attended and helped make the Family Open Day such a brilliant day.
