Community Windpower Ltd (CWL) were delighted to attend the annual fun-filled Haddington Show event in East Lothian on Saturday 3rd July 2010, for their fifth year.
CWL continued to show their support for Haddington Show by sponsoring the "fancy dress pony" competition and presenting the rosette to the winner.
An exhibition stand detailing the launch of the company’s FIT Windpower division, focusing on small scale schemes and the Feed-In Tariff, was displayed along with details of their proposed Aikengall II Community Windfarm, which is currently in planning with the Scottish Government. The stand was very well attended and representatives from CWL were extremely pleased with the level of local support for the proposed windfarm.
Restoration work is currently underway on Innerwick Church in the Parish of Dunglass much to the delight of the parishioners and local residents.
Fundraising by the Parish of Dunglass has been very productive with donations provided from various sources in the local area. Community Windpower Ltd and BeGreen Dunbar & District have supplied valuable funds towards the necessary work.
Community Windpower Ltd recently visited Innerwick Church to present a cheque for £10,000 to representatives from the Parish of Dunglass. This vital funding has ensured the repair and restoration of the church and bell along with general repairs and repointing of the Church.
Community Windpower Ltd have made a £1000 contribution to the Dunbar Christmas Lights Committee which has enabled them to purchase over 500 LED energy saving bulbs in preparation for Dunbar's Christmas Lights. These new bulbs will reduce power consumption compared to the old style filament bulbs and will have a longer life. We look forward to seeing them switched on later this year.
Community Windpower Ltd have invested £100,000 in BeGreen Dunbar. This initiative aims to eradicate fuel poverty and promote home energy efficiency in the local community.
Community Windpower Ltd are committed to a £50,000 investment in the Scottish Wildlife Trust, £2000 for every year Aikengall Community Windfarm is operational.
Community Windpower Ltd have recently sponsored Dunbar RFC and provided them with a new kit.
Dunbar RNLI were the beneficaries of fundraising collected at the Aikengall Community Windfarm Family Open Day in September 2009. The valuable donations will help them to carry on the excellent service which they provide.
Over £900 has been donated to the Lammermoor Pastoral Society for sponsorship of the Ellemford Show 2006-2009.
